She startled the participants with a series of Database Indexing tips and tricks, which can contribute a lot to performance optimisation of a MySQL database.
She also emphasised on the MySQL query cache - how queries are cached for future execution and the performance boost it provides to information retrieval. She discussed how query performances can be tweaked and improved upon and how every millisecond gained would contribute to an overall efficient server. She moved on to some common Server Optimization mistakes DBAs make and how to avoid them, to a huge interest of the participants.
The session was very well accepted by the audience and they also found it very useful. What was most gratifying is the level of interest in the participants and the flurry of queries that followed during the Questions round.
